Adlai Hardin

Adlai Hardin studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and at Princeton University. He was a member of the National Academy of Design, and a fellow of the National Sculpture Society (1957-60). He was an active member of the Lyme Art Association.

Hardin moved to Old Lyme from Darien, Connecticut in 1959. He built a large house and studio on the water. He has done a great deal of religious sculpture, and his works are in churches and religious institutions around the country. He was the artist-in-residence at the American Academy in Rome in 1962.

His work can be seen in public buildings such as St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City and the IBM Collection. His prefered media was wood and bronze.
